Twin Atlantic @ Electric Brixton, London
14/11/2024
Halfway through their second headline UK tour of 2024, Scottish alt-rockers Twin Atlantic
showed why their power-pop catchy choruses have remained infectious amongst their
almost decade-strong fanbase.
First on stage were new generation indie rockers, The Neckbreakers, a young and hungry
Fleetwood Mac inspired band who’s performance is “the story of siblings who sing songs in
bloody harmonies” Earlier this year they featured on the bill of Download Festival. Their first
single *Waiting On Your Call* is definitely worth streaming!
Second up were Daytime TV, Scottish alt-rockers who have recently supported the likes of
Two Door Cinema Club, Kaiser Chiefs, and have performed at London’s British Summer Time
Festival. Their latest EP *Island* has been consistently blowing up BBC Radio 1.
At this point the Electric Brixton has started to fill up nicely in time for the main event.
Warming up the crowd in true British form, Queen’s *Bohemian Rhapsody* with a splash of
“Let’s go girls” thrown in just before the hair-raising solo really made us all feel like we
could kick the door off its hinges. Twin Atlantic opened their 21-song set with *Meltdown* the “raw and honest” title track of their latest and seventh album. Albeit a slower start to the night, the energy picked up around *Get Out* which Sam McTrusty rightfully explained in Kerrang as “one of the first out and out rock songs we had written for years. It was the real catalyst for the whole album”.
Deeper into the set as the momentum started to naturally flow, the crowd were bouncing
around and fully soaking up every moment. I however, couldn’t help but feel that I wanted a bit more performance from the night. Musically speaking the band were absolutely on it. With the fans donning their t-shirts with *“Officially considering becoming a fan of Twin Atlantic” scribbled on the back, I left the show feeling the same, with their singalong songs playing repeat, despite being a Twin Atlantic first-timer.
