'MEANS TO AN END'- MALICIOUS COMPLIANCE
TRACK REVIEW BY MEGAN JENKINS
The UK grassroots metal scene is alive and well these days, and London-artist Malicious Compliance is one of the artists lending their hand to keeping such a vibrant scene flourishing. The group Malicious Compliance are on the verge of releasing their new single ‘Means To An End’ this week and Ryoko was lucky enough to get a sneak peak of the track.
Malicous Compliance wastes no time in getting started, exploding into the track with fervor. It’s a complete assault on the senses from the first beat, with thundering riffs, violent drums, and venomous lead vocals from vocalist Karl Standen.
The track clocks in short at just over two minutes, but it’s two minutes of listening well spent. It has all the trademarks of a good deathcore song but finds itself elevated with confrontational, guttural vocals that even the best could take some notes from. Everyone’s favourite metal staple of bringing the riff back, just a little bit slower is done exceptionally well and packs another heavy punch in an onslaught of blows.
‘Means To An End’ is aggressive, assaulting, and assertive - exactly what you want from a deathcore artist. As a standalone track, it’s incredibly promising and we already can’t wait to hear its place in a larger body of work from such a talented artist.
